Independent brokerage, not a government program
Direct Healthcare Choice is a privately operated, independent insurance brokerage. We are not a government agency and are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicare, Medicaid, or any federal or state government program. Coverage is offered through nationally recognized insurance carriers. Any premiums, deductibles or savings figures shown anywhere on this site are examples only and are not an offer of coverage — plan availability, benefits, underwriting and eligibility vary by plan, by state and by individual circumstances. A licensed advisor will confirm the details that apply to you.
Licensing
Direct Healthcare Choice operates as a licensed insurance producer, and coverage is presented by advisors licensed in the state where the applicant resides. Licensing is regulated at the state level, and an advisor will confirm their licence and, where applicable, their National Producer Number on request.
If you want to verify any producer independently, your state's department of insurance maintains a public licence lookup, and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners publishes a national producer database. We encourage you to use them.
How we are paid
We are compensated by insurance carriers in the form of commissions when a client enrols in a plan. You do not pay us a separate fee for a coverage review or for advice. Commission rates vary between carriers and products, which is exactly why the next paragraph exists.
Our advisors are instructed to recommend the plan that fits the client, including when the answer is a plan we are not paid for — a subsidised Marketplace plan, Medicaid, a spouse's employer plan, or staying on COBRA. If you believe that did not happen on your call, tell us at info@directhealthcarechoice.com.
What the figures on this site mean
Every premium, deductible, copay, out-of-pocket and savings figure on this site is an example for a hypothetical healthy applicant, shown to explain how these plan types differ from one another. Specifically:
- The $750 versus $300 monthly comparison and the accompanying feature table are examples, not offers, and not based on your information
- The cost explorer produces a general range for education only — it is not a price offer, not a rate, and not a statement of what you qualify for
- Actual premiums, deductibles, benefits, networks, exclusions and eligibility vary by plan, by state, by age, by household and by health history
- Only an insurance carrier can determine eligibility and issue coverage
Medical underwriting
The private plans we most often present are medically underwritten. That means health history affects both eligibility and price, and some applicants are declined. It also means these plans are not ACA-compliant plans and do not necessarily include every essential health benefit — maternity, certain mental-health and substance-use services and some prescription categories are commonly limited or excluded. An advisor will identify the exclusions in any specific plan before you apply. Ask for them in writing, and read them.
When the Marketplace or Medicaid is the better answer
If your household income qualifies you for a substantial premium tax credit, or for Medicaid in your state, a Marketplace or Medicaid plan is frequently the better financial outcome and cannot decline you for any health condition. Those options are always available to you directly at HealthCare.gov or through your state exchange, at no cost and without going through us. Our Marketplace comparison explains where that line falls.
Testimonials and reviews
The member scenarios shown on this site are composites written to show how an advisor conversation actually goes. They are not verified customer reviews, they are not attributed to real named individuals, and they are not a promise of any particular outcome, premium or approval. We do not publish a star rating or review score, because we do not have a verified one to publish.
Carriers
Coverage is offered through nationally recognised insurance carriers. Carrier availability varies by state and changes over time, and we do not display carrier logos or names on this site unless we are authorised by that carrier to do so.
