What we look at
Five answers tell an advisor where to start.
Your state decides which carriers and plan types are on the table. Household size and timing shape the options worth pulling. The pre-existing conditions question tells the advisor which kind of underwriting makes sense before they ever call.
- State: which carriers and networks are available
- Household: who needs to be on the plan
- Pre-existing conditions: a simple yes or no
- Timing: whether coverage needs to start now

What exactly is a private PPO plan, and how is it different from a marketplace plan?
A marketplace (ACA) plan is sold during open enrollment, priced without regard to your health history, and increasingly built on narrow local HMO networks. A private PPO is sold directly by a carrier through brokers like us, is typically medically underwritten, and usually gives you a much broader nationwide network — often at a lower premium if you're reasonably healthy and don't qualify for a large subsidy.
Can I really apply at any time of year?
Yes. Private coverage isn't tied to the ACA's six-week open-enrollment window, so there's no waiting for November. If you lost a job in March or aged off a parent's plan in July, you can start a review today.
I have a pre-existing condition. Am I wasting my time?
No — and that's why it's step three of the survey rather than a footnote. Private plans are usually underwritten, which means health history affects eligibility and price, and some conditions are better served by an ACA plan that can't decline you. An advisor will tell you which side of that line you're on instead of running you through an application that goes nowhere.
Will I be able to keep my doctor?
Often, yes — a broad PPO network is the main reason people move to one. Give your advisor the names of the doctors and hospitals that matter to you and they'll check the network directories before you commit to anything.
How is the deductible so much lower than a marketplace plan?
Underwritten plans price for the risk of the people who qualify for them, so a healthy applicant can often buy a much lower deductible for the same money. The trade-off is that not everyone qualifies, and the plans don't carry every ACA-mandated benefit — your advisor will spell out exactly what a specific plan does and doesn't cover.
What happens after I submit the five questions?
One licensed advisor receives your details, reviews what's available in your state, and calls you once. They explain the options, the costs and the gaps. You decide from there — nothing is submitted to a carrier without you saying yes.
How many people are going to call me?
One. Your information goes to a single licensed advisor. We don't resell leads, we don't run auto-dialers, and we don't pass your details to a bidding pool of agencies.
Is this a government programme or connected to the Marketplace?
No. We're a privately operated independent brokerage. We aren't a government agency and we're not affiliated with or endorsed by the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicare, Medicaid, or any federal or state programme.
What if a marketplace plan or Medicaid is actually cheaper for me?
Then an advisor will say so. If your household income qualifies you for a large ACA subsidy, or for Medicaid, that is frequently the better deal and we'd rather tell you than sell around it. Sending you somewhere else costs us a sale and keeps our reputation intact.
What do the prices shown on this site mean?
They're examples, not offers. The $750 vs $300 example and the feature table show what a comparison can look like for one healthy applicant. Your actual premium, deductible and benefits depend on age, location, health history and the plan you choose — a licensed advisor confirms real numbers with a real carrier.
